I Want to Teach

Professional Educators Share your Talent
Do you have a special program or teaching strategy that would be of benefit to your fellow educators? Do you hold a master's degree? Then you are invited to become an instructor for the Keystone Staff Development Program.

Submitting a Course for Approval
All programs must have fifteen instructor contact hours. Independent study, web search time, or a paper cannot replace contact time. If you meet the contact hour requirement, then click on and complete the Instructor Cover Sheet, Course Syllabus, and Instructor Vita forms listed below. Then return the forms by e-mail to Bruce Floyd (bfloyd@aea1.k12.ia.us) or print and mail them to Bruce Floyd, Keystone AEA, 1400 Second St. NW, Elkader, IA 52043.

Should you care to offer more than one course, or know someone else who would like to, feel free to make additional copies. Please indicate any special circumstances, such as a prearranged audience, or a specific site on the forms.

Class Size and Remuneration:
Keystone AEA reserves the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment. Instructors set course minimum and maximum number of participants. Instructor reimbursement is based on the salary schedule noted below. All instructors will be hired by the Agency as a part-time employee or as independent contractors. For all part-time employees Keystone AEA will withhold federal and state income tax. For more information on the hiring of staff development instructors contact Bruce Floyd at 1-800-632-5918, ext. 167.

Instructor Compensation and Reimbursement as of June 1, 2003:
  • 1-9 participants reimbursed at a rate of $75 per participant per credit hour.
  • Base pay of $750 for 10 participants (Human Relations and Evaluator Update classes require a minimum of 8 for full pay) plus an additional $50 per participant per credit hour for each additional participant with no maximum. Salary based upon paying enrollment not confirmed enrollment.
  • We also reimburse for mileage to and from your home to the instruction site at the Agency rate of .30 per mile. Copying and printing is provided by the Agency. However, we cannot reimburse for copying or printing done elsewhere. We can also pay other normal and customary travel expenses if overnight is required. Approval in advance is required if overnight travel expenses will be requested.
